WHALE WHATCHING:

This kind of package is designed for the active people in good physical health, who can swim, have a spirit for adventure and need to feel close to nature.

This activity can be done on the islands of S.Miguel, Faial and Pico. We offer a 7 night package at the village of Lajes on Pico but the individual departures can be done from the 3 islands.

Various 6 meter long rigid hull inflatable boats are used, which allow safe and fast access to the whales and dolphins. The boat size does not disturb the mammals.
Using the original look-out system called “vigia”, surveyor observes the sea, on the lookout for cetaceans. The Sperm whales, the largest and most numerous in these water are readily identified throughout various photographs taken of the understudies of their flukes when diving. The other toothed whales that are frequently sighted are Northen Bottlenose Whales, Pilot Whales, Orcas and Sowerby´s Beaked whales.
